Spievey was selected by the Lions in the third round (66th overall) of this year's draft. The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder started every game that he played in (26) at Iowa, recording 124 tackles.

Detroit also inked defensive end Willie Young to a three-year deal. The North Carolina State product was taken in the seventh round of this year's draft.
